Second Sunday of Advent

Wreath-Lighting Liturgy

READ 2 Corinthians 13:11-13

Goodbye, my friends. Do better and pay attention to what I have said.
Try to get along and live peacefully with each other.

Now I pray that God, who gives love and peace, will be with you.
Give each other a warm greeting. All God's people send their greetings.

I pray that the Lord Jesus Christ will bless you and be kind to you!
May God bless you with his love,
and may the Holy Spirit join all your hearts together.

LIGHT the Second Candle

Today is the Second Sunday of Advent.

As we light this candle:

  • may all families everywhere be joined together in love

  • may children and parents of all ages build healthy relationships

  • may homes be safe, peaceful places for growing and learning

  • may everyone have the opportunity to sleep in heavenly peace

  • may all of us try to get along and live peacefully with each other

PRAY for Peace

Triune God, whose will it is that humans live in community, bless family life everywhere and fill all homes
with respect, joy, laughter, prayer, and peace. Strengthen the commitment of spouses to one another, that they may mirror your covenant faithfulness; pour out your Spirit on parents, that through them their children may taste your unconditional love; and empower all family members to live in your grace and forgiveness; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
