  • Beth Boxell

    Birth to 3

Elizabeth (Beth) has been a member of Immanuel since May of 2018. A mom of three (Zach, Molly, & Abby), she is a teacher in the Watertown Unified School District. Beth grew up in Colorado, went to college at Valparaiso University in Indiana, and is a consecrated deaconess with the Lutheran Diaconal Association (LDA). She is so excited to teach the littlest members all about Jesus' love, grace, and the joys of being together as a church. Come sing and play with all your friends on the first Sunday of the month!

  • Jana & Tim Strobel

    4K + 5K

Jana & Tim Strobel are excited to be teaching 4K and 5K Sunday school again this year! Jana is an art teacher and Tim is a farmer. Their claim to fame is that they’ve been bringing a lamb to Immanuel’s Sunday School since 1995. Jana & Tim were married here and have two daughters. They look forward to telling Bible stories in exciting ways and doing craft projects that go along with them!

  • Marta & Bob Boxell

    4K + 5K

Marta & Bob have been active at Immanuel since moving from Evansville, IN in 2021. Marta has taught Sunday School for the past two years, and Bob is a member of the Congregation Council. Marta was a public school teacher for 37 years, including 23 as a kindergarten teacher. Both are excited about teaching the love of God to the 4K and 5K children at Immanuel, and having lots of fun in the process! Marta & Bob have two sons, Andy and Mark, daughter-in-law Elizabeth, and grandchildren Zachary, Molly and Abby.

  • Mya Grosenick

    Grades 1 + 2

Mya is excited to be helping out in Sunday School again this year!

She’s a senior at Watertown High School and participates on the swim team, wrestling and lacrosse. She also enjoys working at Gingerbread daycare.

  • Katie & Austin Bartelt

    Grades 3 + 4

Katie & Austin Bartelt are excited to be back teaching in the 3rd & 4th grade classroom again this school year.

The Bartelts joined Immanuel in September 2019 and live in Johnson Creek. Katie works for the Wisconsin Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), enjoys reading, camping, and playing games. Austin enjoys art, gaming, and participating in Pep Band and musicals at Johnson Creek High School.

  • Sue Putra

    Grades 5 + 6

Sue is so excited to teach 5th and 6th grade again this year, and she’s looking forward to learning new things along with the students. Classes will be interactive, include treats, and be relevant to what is happening in school and community - often applying memorable Bible stories to our daily lives. Action activities are included, providing fun interactions within the group. Sue welcomes students and their friends to join our class each Sunday. Had a sleepover Saturday night? No problem! Bring your friends and she’ll provide breakfast snacks.

  • David Morstad

    Music

Since coming to Watertown in 1977, David has been active in many of Immanuel’s music programs. As the Sunday School musician, he counts on his enthusiasm to make up for his many wrong notes and he lives by the motto, “If you’re going to make a mistake, make a loud one.” And his mistakes are very loud, indeed. In addition to making music, David has a passion for disability inclusion and accessibility in faith communities. He has lectured about that from Ixonia to Istanbul, wrote a book about it, and, as time allows, blogs about it at www.LargerTable.com.

  • Pastor Carina & Trevor

    Confirmation

Rev. Carina Schiltz and Trevor Thom are excited to be teaching our confirmation class again this year! Pastor Carina has served as our pastor since April 2022 and Trevor has been on staff, most recently as Director of Congregational Life, since November 2020. They are both committed to cultivating safe, creative spaces for the youth of Immanuel to engage with their faith; have fun; and build relationships with other young people, their congregation and its leaders, their community, and (of course) with God!
