The Epiphany of Christ

FIRST NAVE WINDOW:

The Epiphany of Christ

“They Worshipped Him”

The five pointed star at the top of this window is a symbol of the Star of Jacob, namely our Lord Jesus Christ. It is one of the best known of the Messianic symbols, “There shall come a star out of Jacob,” Numbers 24:17, and we are reminded of our Lord’s own words, “I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.” Revelation 22:16. The manifestation or Epiphany was made to the Magi, and they are symbolized by the three crowns in different colors. They each brought a gift — gold, frankincense and myrrh. The bottom symbol in the window is the orb and the cross symbolizing the gospel spread over the world because of the adoration of the Magi. It is to symbolize that the whole world is called to Christ. They were guided by a star and came from the East.
